The proscribed Action Committee in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has resorted to negative propaganda on social media following declining public interest and a loss of credibility.

According to spokesperson for the Inspector General of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police, miscreants associated with the proscribed organization are running a fabricated campaign alleging a police attack and firing during the Rawalakot protest.

Rejecting the allegations, the spokesperson termed the campaign misleading, saying no action was taken against the Eidgah sit-in.

He said a coordinated effort was underway on social media to spread baseless claims of attacks, shelling, and firing by law enforcement agencies through the use of old videos. He said these videos were being circulated to create panic among the public and undermine confidence in law enforcement agencies.

The spokesperson said that malicious designs of such disruptive elements will not succeed. He urged peace-loving citizens and social media users to verify the authenticity of any news or video before sharing it and rely only on credible sources to avoid becoming part of any misleading, hateful, or provocative campaign.

The spokesperson said that police respect the constitutional and legal rights of every citizen and act in accordance with the law. He said their first priority was peace, the rule of law, and the protection of the public.
