Many high-level US officials are visiting Pakistan and expressing solidarity with the flood affected people

Jalil Abbas Jilani (Former Ambassador): We should be grateful to the U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres for his visit at a time when Pakistan is facing the worst situation and destruction due to the recent flooding. We are hopeful that he would be able to raise awareness among the member countries of the United Nations about the recent devastation caused by floods in Pakistan. The U.N. Secretary-General has already appealed to the world to support Pakistan in rehabilitation and rebuilding infrastructure in the country. We are witnessing that the Pak-US relations at this point of time are on a positive trajectory. Many high-level US officials are visiting Pakistan and expressing solidarity with the flood affected people and announcing financial assistance for the flood victims. In the past, the United States played a vital role in minimizing Indo-Pak tensions and also offered to mediate in resolving the Kashmir issue. The United States has always urged Pakistan and India to resolve all bilateral issues through dialogue.
