APHC calls on Kashmiris to observe August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir
July 31, 2024

All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called on people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to observe August 5 as "Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir", marking fifth anniversary of revocation of Article 370.

On August 5, 2019, Indian government, led by Narendra Modi, repealed Article 370 and imposed a military siege in the territory, leading to widespread human rights violations and arrests of political leaders and activists.

In a statement issued in Srinagar today, the APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rahid Minhas has demanded reversal of actions taken on August 5, 2019, release of all political detainees, end to human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and resolution of Kashmir dispute as per United Nations resolutions.

Illegally detained APHC leader Molvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani in a statement from jail also called August 5 a "painful and tragic day" in the Kashmir's history.

Meanwhile, Indian forces continued their cordon and search operations in different areas of occupied Kashmir.

The Indian forces including army and Central Reserve Police Force conducted massive search operations in Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar and Doda districts, arresting many people.
