The development package envisages infrastructure, road, electricity projects, and protection of environment and promotion of tourism. Under the package, projects in various sectors will not only herald a new chapter of development and progress in Gilgit Baltistan, but will also help address the problems of the region and create numerous employment opportunities.

Promotion of tourism would bring benefits for both Gilgit Baltistan and Pakistan.  The PTI-led government also wants to bring under-developed areas at par with the developed areas. There is a need for exploiting huge potential of tourism existing in Gilgit Baltistan.

Dr. Salman Shah (Advisor to Punjab Government): I think it is very important initiative in the history of Gilgit Baltistan. The PTI-led government is identifying key issues in the development of Gilgit-Baltistan. This area is a gateway to China and lies at a strategic location. The region has huge potential of tourism as well as mining. As the projects in CPEC gather pace, the prosperity and development of its people will increase. Power projects will also provide uninterrupted power supply to the residents. The package also envisages health facilities for the residents of this region.
