Amnesty International announces to halt its operations in India
September 29, 2020

Amnesty International has announced to halt its operations in India due to continuous attacks and bullying by Indian government.

In a statement, Amnesty's Executive Director said the Indian government does not want to answer questions raised by the watchdog regarding Delhi riots and the human rights violations in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the organization's bank accounts have been frozen and it has been forced to suspend all its campaign and research work.

The announcement came amid growing concerns over the state of democracy and free speech in India.
