May 28, 2018

Yaum-e-Takbeer was observed on Monday to commemorate historic nuclear tests Pakistan conducted on this day in 1998.

The nuclear explosions, which were conducted in self-defence to respond to India's aggression of nuclear tests, made Pakistan's defence invincible. As a result, Pakistan became the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and seventh in the world.

To mark the day today, different events were organized across the country.

Talking to Radio Pakistan on 20th anniversary of Pakistan's nuclear tests, Dr Samar Mubarakmand, who led nuclear scientists' team that conducted the tests, said the decision was necessary to maintain balance of power in the sub-continent.

In his message on the Yaum-e-Takbeer, Prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the observance of this day provides an opportunity to the nation to reiterate its resolve for defence and solidarity of the country.

In a statement, Foreign Office said Pakistan has remained steadfast in its commitment to non-proliferation and global peace and strategic stability.

Addressing a function held in Peshawar to Mark the day Prime Minister's Adviser Engineer Amir Maqam said credit for nuclear tests goes to the then Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who conducted the tests and resisted all sort of pressure in this regard.

He said PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa failed to fulfill its promises made with the people during elections 2013.

Rallies were taken out in Quetta, Chaghi, Noshki, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Dera Murad Jamali, Mastung, Khuzdar, Kharan, Sibbi, Gwadar and many other small and major cities of  Balochistan today to mark Yaum-e-Takbeer.

Addressing the participants, the speakers said with the grace of Allah Almighty, the defence of Pakistan has been made impregnable.
