Pakistan, Kazakhstan to step up cooperation in diverse fields

Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to step up cooperation in diverse fields for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

The concurrence came in the two-day Ninth Session of Inter-governmental Joint Commission between Pakistan and Kazakhstan that concluded in Islamabad today (Friday).

Kazakh delegation was headed by First Deputy Foreign Minister Shakhrat Nuryshev while Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood represented the Pakistan side.

The Commission deliberated on areas for priority cooperation such as trade, industries, investment, communication, energy, tourism, agriculture, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

The two sides agreed to expedite conclusion of MoUs on trade and investment, agriculture and tourism.

It was decided to establish three separate Joint Working Groups on Transport and Regional Connectivity, Energy, and Trade and Investment.

It was agreed to convene the next meeting of Pakistan-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Joint Commission in Kazakhstan.
