Senate resolution urges ministries to create job portals for online merit based procedure

Senate has unanimously passed a resolution recommending all Federal Ministries and their attached departments should create job portals on their respective websites for online merit based procedure to ensure transparency.

The resolution was presented by Senator Faisal Javed Khan in the House today.

The resolution further said it will discourage dishonest practices that are jeopardizing the merit system.

The House will now meet again on Wednesday at 3:30pm.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan says government is taking steps to make Islamabad safer in rains and urban flooding.

He was taking part in the discussion on a motion moved by Senator Mushtaq Ahmed about damage caused to lives and property due to torrential rains in the capital on 28th of July.

The Minister of State district administration took timely action after the flood and Deputy Commissioner himself monitored the relief and rescue operation. He said Pakistan army also supported district administration in the operation.

He said creation of plots on nullahs by Capital Development Authority should be investigated and responsible should be held accountable.

Ali Muhammad Khan said Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Chairman CDA to take appropriate steps to avoid urban flooding in the capital in future.

Earlier, talking on the motion Senator Mushtaq Ahmed said CDA and district administration failed to save lives and properties of the public in affected areas of the capital.

He asked the government to take action against the responsible officials in CDA and civil administration.

Nine bills were introduced in the Senate today.

These include; “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, “The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Trade Organizations (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Bill, 2021”, “The China Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2021” and “The Control of Narcotic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2021”.

The Chair referred the bills to the Standing Committees concerned.

Four bills were passed in the Senate today.

These include; “The Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The National Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Bill, 2020”, “The Ibadat International University Islamabad Bill, 2021” and “The Islamabad Women University Islamabad Bill, 2021”.
