More than a dozen United Nations independent experts have called on India to immediately release human rights activists, who were arrested for protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

In a statement issued in Geneva, these experts observed that India's citizenship laws that provoked nationwide protests, is the blatant exclusion of Muslims and other Minorities from access to citizenship.
