In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the detained vice Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Shabbir Ahmad Shah has called to observe India's Republic Day as a Black Day on Wednesday as a mark of protest against the forcible occupation of Kashmiris’ motherland.
In a message from Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail, he said the people of Kashmir have time and again rejected the Indian illegal occupation through peaceful means of resistance, protests and public demonstrations.
The incarcerated leader appealed to the people to observe complete shutdown in Kupwara district on the martyrdom anniversary of Handwara massacre tomorrow.
Seventeen innocent Kashmiris were killed when personnel of Indian paramilitary Border Security Force had opened indiscriminate fire on thousands of peaceful protesters at Handwara Chowk on January 25, 1990 who were protesting against the Gaw Kadal massacre.
Meanwhile, curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the name of security ahead of India's so-called Republic Day on Wednesday.
The restrictions have further added to the miseries of the state terrorism-hit Kashmiri people.
