Senate resumed its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad this afternoon with Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair.

The House offered Fateha for late Senator Usman Khan Kakar. Molana Faiz Muhammad led the prayer.

Acknowledging the services of Usman Khan Kakar, leader of the House Shahzad Waseem and opposition leader Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani prayed for the departed soul and extended heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family.

The House unanimously passed a condolence resolution to pay rich tribute to late Senator Usman Khan Kakar for his services and contributions to strengthen the Parliament and democracy.

The resolution was submitted by the leader of the opposition Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani.

The Senate today (Monday) passed two bills.

These include, “The Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2021”, and “The Islamabad Capital Territory Senior Citizens Bill, 2021”.

Speaking on the budgetary motion, Senator Kamran Michael urged the government to fix a package in the budget for the frontline workers who risked their life during Corona pandemic.

He said the government should provide relief to common man to make it people friendly budget.

Jam Mahtab Hussain Dahar said Agriculture sector should be provided more incentives so the farmers can purchase modern technology including latest machinery.

He said provinces specifically Sindh should be granted fair distribution under NFC award every year.Senator Shahadat Awan and Senator Muhammad Akram stressed on increasing salaries of government employees. They said current salaries of the employees should be compatible with rising inflation and increased expenses.

Muhammad Akram said border trade should be facilitated so the people living in border areas can get employment.

Those who also spoke on the occasion include Senator Syed Asif Saeed Kirmani, Senator Nuzhat Sadiq and Senator Kaishu Bai.

The House will meet again on Wednesday at 4pm.
