In Iraq, at least five people have been killed and more than 100 injured, as Iraqi security forces opened fire on the protesters demanding appointment of a new independent Prime Minister in Baghdad.

According to Iraqi media, deadly violence has surged in Baghdad and several other southern cities.

The protesters have vowed to continue escalation until their demands are met.
