Canada has withdrawn 41 diplomats from India amid a dispute over the murder of a Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar by the Indian agents.

In a statement, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said India had threatened to unilaterally revoke the diplomats' official status.

She termed Indian threat as unreasonable and a clearl violation of the Vienna convention on diplomatic relations.
