Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood has said that education plays an important role in development of any country and the incumbent government is making all out efforts for uplift of education sector in Pakistan.

Speaking at the convocation of Kinnaird Collage for Women in Lahore on Thursday, he said continuous up-gradation of the professional level of faculty members is very important for good quality of higher education.

Shafqat Mahmood said education sector's progress is based on research and for the first time history of Pakistan, Research Day was observed in the country yesterday.

He also urged parents and teachers to play their proactive role in educating their children in order to make them successful in their lives and profession.
