OIC, EU agree on strengthening bilateral cooperation

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation and European Union have agreed on strengthening bilateral cooperation through concrete actions.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat and the European Union (EU) held their second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) at the OIC headquarters recently during which both sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.

During the extensive discussions, both sides exchanged views on a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest and agreed on strengthening bilateral cooperation through concrete actions.

The next round of the EU-OIC SOM will be held in Brussels in the first half of 2018. From the EU side the high-level delegation was led by Acting Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa of the European External Action Service Colin Scicluna, and from the OIC side was Ambassador Director General for Political Affairs Tarig Bakheet.
