In Geneva, the Syrian government and opposition groups have agreed to draft new constitution.

The development occurred during renewed United Nations-mandated negotiations in Geneva.

In a statement, UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen told press the drafting committee, comprising 45 representatives of Syria's government, opposition and civil society, has a mandate to draw up a new basic law leading to UN-supervised elections.
