Special Protection Unit (SPU) in police department would be set up soon to ensure security of mega projects under CPEC.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police Gilgit-Baltistan Sabir Ahmed while giving a briefing to the Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz in Gilgit on Wednesday.

He said Federal Government has released two point fifty five billion rupees (2.55 b) for the raising of SPU force and purchase of weapons and other equipment to them.

He said seven hundred Jawans would be appointed for special protection unit (SPU) soon.
