The United States has called upon North Korea to engage in meaningful and substantive dialogue with Washington after Pyongyang carried ballistic missile launches.

Talking to reporters during a briefing in Washington, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said the missile launches are a violation of multiple the UN Security Council resolutions.

He said the missile tests also pose a threat to North Korea's neighbours and other members of international community.

Ned Price said Washington is still committed to a diplomatic approach to Pyongyang to pursue denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
