European Union has expressed the resolve to boost humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

In an annual address, EU chief Ursula von der Leyen said the 27-nation bloc stands by the Afghan people.

She said we must do everything to avert the real risk that is out there of a major famine and humanitarian disaster.

Von der Leyen said we will increase humanitarian aid for Afghanistan by 100 million euros.
