Organization of Islamic Cooperation has opened its office in Kabul to pave the way for the improvement of Afghanistan's relations with other Islamic countries and channelling member States’ support to the country.

The opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of the United Nations, the European Union, and other international organizations.

Special Envoy of Secretary General Ambassador Tarig Bakheet reiterated that OIC would continue to fulfill the mandate entrusted to it by the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.

Interim Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said the office of the OIC would be effective in political cooperation in addition to economic and humanitarian support.
