Dr. A. Z. Hilali (IR Expert): Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has, at a right time, taken a very good decision regarding E-vehicles. Keeping in view the energy problems in country, Pakistan should have had taken this decision earlier. In the present situation, it is very important to conserve energy and bring forth alternative sources and establish infrastructure for this purpose which could also create job opportunities for the people who will also benefit from conserving energy. This decision will bring very positive changes in our social life and it will also create investment opportunities and those people who are already facing problems, will get a relief in this regard.
For this, it is very important for private investors to come forth and become a stakeholder. China, Japan and some other countries, who are good at this technology, could be consulted. Even third world countries like Philippines, Thailand and other countries, where this technology is already in use, could be helpful. Pakistan is a country where non petroleum industries have good potential which could be explored and facilitated especially when the prices of petrol fluctuate in international markets. The more Pakistan utilizes Green Energy, the more people will get benefitted from it.
There should be legislation in this regard at a government level and the investors’ investments must be secured by policy making in this matter.
