In India, the chief ministers of three states have expressed concern against the controversial citizenship law which has triggered mass protests in the country.
In a tweet, the chief minister of Punjab state, Amarinder Singh refused to implement the bill.
Amarinder Singh said any legislation that seeks to divide people on religious lines is illegal, unconstitutional and unethical.
The chief minister of Kerala state, Pinarayi Vijayan said the move to decide citizenship on the basis of religion amounts to rejection of constitution.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also voiced opposition to the law.
