Indian government has deployed thousands of troops in the tense Assam State after violent clashes between security forces and local people who were protesting against controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Earlier, tens of thousands of anti-Citizenship Bill protesters descended on the streets of Assam yesterday, clashing with police and security forces.

The Army conducted a flag march in Guwahati today amid protest called by All Assam Student's Union.
