A renowned Chinese expert on international affairs says a pro-US strategy may actually push India into an abyss.

In his article published in Global Times secretary-general of the Research Center for China-South Asia Cooperation at Shanghai Institutes for International Studies Liu Zongyi, writes that India has almost completely become a petty follower of the US, and India's strategic autonomy has been greatly weakened. He writes that due to India's pro-US gesture, the relationship between India and Russia has deteriorated and suffered great damage.

Liu Zongyi further writes that although the United States is cooperating with India in intelligence sharing and equipment in its border conflict with China at Galwan Valley,  there is no way the US will send its troops to the border if an armed conflict really breaks out between China and India.
