In India, Supreme Court has put on hold three contentious farm laws that sparked weeks of protests.

During a hearing, Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde said an  independent committee is appointed to make a deal between farmers and government.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party Congress has urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately repeal the three black farm laws and apologise to the farmers.

Talking to media, All India Congress Committee spokesman Randeep Surjewala said, farmers are not fighting a legal issue but are struggling for livelihood and existence.
