Int’l Anti-Corruption Day being observed today

International Anti-Corruption Day is being observed today to raise awareness and highlight the dangerous effects of corruption.

This year the day is observed under the theme: “Together, We Are United Against Corruption”.

The day encourages a global fight against corruption and urges all governments to join hands against it.

In his message on the occasion, UN Secretary-General, António Guterres has urged people around the world to continue to work on innovative solutions to win the battle against corruption and to ensure that precious resources serve the peoples of the world.

In his message on Anti-Corruption Day, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said corruption is the root cause of all problems faced by the country including economic constraints, price-hike, unemployment and poverty.

The Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that those involved in corruption not only usurp the rights of public but also commit treason. 

He said that corruption causes unrest and disappointment in society.
