More than 170 Palestinians hurt in Jerusalem clashes
May 08, 2021

More than one hundred and seventy Palestinian  have been injured in clashes with Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said Israeli police fired rubber bullets and stun grenades over them.

Thousands of Palestinians had gathered there to observe the last Friday of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, the international community has appealed for de-escalation as anger mounted over the threatened evictions of Palestinians in Jerusalem's Shaikh Jarrah district.

A United Nations spokesman urged Israel to call off any evictions.

A US State Department spokeswoman said Washington is "deeply concerned about the heightened tensions".
