Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Shibli Faraz says the government is taking practical steps to protect copy rights.

Speaking at a meeting with artists of film industry and other stakeholders via video link, he said it is right of the artists to get royalty of their work.

The Minister said our artists are our identity and national asset and they have a pivotal role in promoting national culture and identity.

He said a Film Task Force will be established at the earliest that will play a key role in promoting film industry in the country and resolution of problems being faced by it.

Briefing the participants about film policy and Artists Welfare Fund, Secretary Information and Broadcasting Akbar Durrani said a database of artists is being compiled from across the country, which will be helpful in extending financial support to them.
