Majnun Gorakhpuri's 30th death anniversary observed

The 30th death anniversary of noted short story writer, poet and literary critic Ahmad Siddiq commonly known as Majnun Gorakhpuri was observed today.

He was born on the 10th may 1904 in Gorakhpur in British India.

He taught at different colleges and universities throughout his life including Aligarh Muslim University, Gorakhpur University and the University of Karachi. He taught in the Department of Urdu at Aligarh Muslim University.

He also translated works of Shakespear, Milton , Tolstoy and Bernard Shaw into urdu .

His collections of short stories include Khvab-o-khayal, Gardish, Majnun ka Afsana, Sogawar-e-shabab .

He died at the age of eighty-four in Karachi.
