The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has said Myanmar military is using death penalty to crush opposition.

In a statement, the UN rights chief said more than 130 opponents of the Myanmar’s military regime have been sentenced to death since February 2021.

He said at least seven university students and four activists were sentenced to death behind closed doors this week.
