Analysts hail steps of government to provide maximum relief to people
October 01, 2022

Dr. Aisha Ghaus Pasha (Minister of State for Finance): The current government inherited a weaker economy. The restarting of IMF program is a good omen for the country. The real impacts of relief will be seen after the formal working of IMF program. It also includes bilateral loans and aid. The government has passed on the relief of reduction in international oil prices to the people. Our people are facing the burden of inflation and we appreciate this fact. We are doing our best to provide maximum relief to the people in all spheres. Due to recent floods, the situation is also precarious but it will improve with the steps being taken by the incumbent government.

Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig (Economist): With the coming of new Finance Minister, there has been visible change in the economic policies of the government. The government has been taking measures to reduce inflation and provide maximum relief to the people. The finance minister announced significant reduction in prices of petroleum products to give relief to the people. In fact, with the coming of new finance minister the price of rupee is consistently appreciating against the dollar. This is a good omen as it will reduce import cost as well as overall debts Pakistan owes. I think these measures will be going to impact our economy positively in the long run.
