The virus is thought to travel from person to person through the air when someone coughs or sneezes. It also may spread when someone touches a surface, such as a table or doorknob that has the virus on it. To help you stay healthy, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that you wash your hands and clean frequently touched surfaces.

It's also a good idea to stay home to avoid exposure. Stay at home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
