The day dawned with thirty-one gun salute in the federal capital and twenty-one gun salute at the provincial capitals.

Extracts from the speeches of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and special messages of the President and the Prime Minister were broadcast in the programme "Subh-o-Bakhair."
A special feature titled "Roshan Subh-e-Azadi" was aired at 7:30 am. All PBC stations gave live coverage to the change of guard ceremony at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
The Prime Minister performed the flag hosting ceremony at the Jinnah Convention Centre Islamabad. The ceremony was broadcast live from the Jinnah Convention Centre along with "Eye Witness Account" on National Network.
PBC covered all the functions in connection with Independence Day celebrations. A special feature titled "Ay Watan Tu Salamat Rahay" and discussion programme‚ "Tehreek-i-Pakistan Say Tameer-i-Pakistan Tak" were also part of the Independence Day programmes.
