    Planet FM 94 Lahore inaugurated
    Inaugurating Radio Pakistan's English Channel Planet FM-94 from Lahore‚ the Minister of State for Information said there is a need to improve the soft image of the country abroad
    Radio Pakistan's English Channel Planet FM-94 began its transmission from Lahore on Saturday night.

    In this connection‚ a grand and splendid inaugural ceremony was held at the lawns of Radio Pakistan Lahore Station.


    The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting‚ Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari presided over the ceremony‚ while the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board‚ Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf and the Consul General of US Lahore Consulate Ms. Nina Maria Fite were Chief Guests of the ceremony. Director General Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solungi also graced the occasion.


    This is the second radio station of FM 94 series of Radio Pakistan; the first one is radiating at Islamabad since 2009. The Primary concept of Planet FM 94 is to promote music‚ talent and provide a platform to youth to raise their voice.



    inAddressing the inaugural ceremony‚ the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting‚ Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari said that Planet FM 94 channel will help promote softer image of Pakistan.



    He said that Pakistanis are peace loving people and we want to make Pakistan a country‚ representing the vision of Quaid e Azam‚ Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He expressed the hope that the youth will present a better image of country internationally.


    He said that promotion of peaceful co-existence and tolerance is mission of Sufis‚ and launching of this channel will prove an important step in this direction.


    Addressing on this occasion‚ the US Consul General in Lahore‚ Ms. Nina Maria Fite congratulated Radio Pakistan on launching an all English FM channel from Lahore.


    She said that this channel will play a great role for promoting English language as well as provide an ample opportunity to the youth of country to raise their voice and contribute positively in the country's development.




    0825210549_11_01In his address‚ the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board‚ Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf also congratulated PBC management and said that negotiations are underway to give Radio Pakistan the rights of live commentaries on cricket matches




    Director-General Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi said the station would truly reflect the aspirations of young people of Lahore. He congratulated people of Lahore and said they have been waiting for the station which they could call their own and finally they have got it.dg



    The launching ceremony was followed by a Sufi music extravaganza. Singers and artists including Areeb Azhar‚ Saaein Zahoor ‚ Mikaal Hassan and Pappu Saaein enthralled the audience through their magnificent performance on this occasion

    Later talking to newsmen‚ the Minister of State for Information said the party leadership will decide about the appearance of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf before the Supreme Court in the Contempt of Court case.


    He said that the Prime Minister enjoys complete immunity under the constitution.


    Replying a question about Pakistan's protest on US drone attacks‚ he said we have made clear to the US authorities that these attacks are counterproductive and the its disadvantages are more than the advantages.
