    The 38th Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development Annual Meeting
    AIBD General Conference has adopted new strategies and election of four members of the Executive Board


    The 38th Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development General Conference has concluded in Kathmandu‚ Nepal after adopting new strategies and election of four members of the Executive Board.

    The General Conference re-elected Pakistan for another two years' term. Pakistan got the highest number of votes.

    DG Radio Pakistan‚ Murtaza Solangi has already been elected the Chairman of the board.

    Nepalese Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai opened the 38th Asia Pacific Institute of Broadcasting Development inauguration ceremony in Kathmandu on Wednesday evening.

    In his inaugural address‚ he urged public broadcasters to dedicate their programming to meet the emerging needs of the populace in Asia Pacific region in the environment of digital migration‚ fierce commercial competition‚ media and technological convergence and the rise of viral social media.

     

     

    Director General Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi in his presidential address after his unanimous election as the new Chairman of AIBD Executive Board thanked Nepalese hosts and reiterated the new resolve of the organization to focus on Climate change‚ disaster communications and broadcasting.

    He announced that AIBD will initiate new training programs to help member countries to develop programming and technical facilities to prepare them for the new challenges specially related to Climate change and man-made as well natural disasters.

    He said this in his presidential address at the inauguration ceremony of the 38th Asia Pacific Institute of Broadcasting Development in Khatmandu‚ Nepal.

    Murtaza Solangi was unanimously elected as the new Chairman of AIBD Executive Board.

    Preparations for the 38th Annual Gathering of Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development General Conference and Associated Meetings are in full swing in Kathmandu‚ Nepal starting on Wednesday‚ hosted‚ by Nepal Television and Radio Nepal. 


    Prime Minister of Nepal Dr. Baburam Bhattarai will formally inaugurate the annual gathering.




    During the three-day conference‚ the Strategic Plan Team (SPT) and Executive Board (EXBO) meetings will be held‚ prior to the official opening of the General Conference on Wednesday.


    Radio Pakistan is the member of the Executive Board and will be represented by Director General‚ Murtaza Solangi.4_06








    Pakistan is founding member of this inter regional and inter-governmental media body founded in 1977 with 27 full members representing 26 countries and the UN.

     AIBD has 90 affiliate members in Asia Pacific region. 6_02Delegates from AIBD members and partners have started to arrive and register for the General Conference.
