    Radio Pakistan starts health Program Sehat‚Zindagi Salaamat

    Radio Pakistan has started a weekly health programme titled 'Sehat‚ Zindagi‚ Salaamat ' to create awareness among the people of Sindh province about the seasonal diseases caused by the rains and floods.

    This is the joint venture of Karachi and Hyderabad stations and all the six Sindh stations of Radio Pakistan are broadcasting this program.

    Radio Pakistan Karachi is originating this fifty minutes programme on every Sunday at 12.10 pm. 

     

    A specialist doctor takes queries of the listeners on the diseases such as Malaria and Diarrhea and apprise them about the precautionary measures to be adopted.

     

    The programme is being rebroadcast on Monday evening at 5.30 pm.


    First Episode: Sehat‚ Zindagi Salaamat : Interview with Dr Geet Chainani

     

    Introduction:

    Dr. Geet Chainani is the young American doctor. She was borned in India. Raised in New York City‚ she trained as a medical doctor in the Caribbean. And for most of the year. she's been treating families‚ especially children‚ in the tent cities of the flood waters of the Indus River‚ upstream from Karachi. geet


    This week Dr Geet Chainani gave her first interview in the Programme "Sehat‚Zindagi Salaamat " . Dr Geet Chainani gave her advice as to how the families protect themselves from the diseases caused  by monsoon season.


    Dr Geet Chainani explained that abundance of mosquitoes in monsoon season‚ cases of Malaria and Dengue witnessed an upward trend. Although various malaria-prevention drugs are available‚ these are not always effective. Plus‚ in many places malaria parasites become resistant to the drugs. Your best bet would be to keep your home mosquito-free.

     

    She also briefed about the importance of drinking boiled water‚ dressing-up children the right way‚ precautionary measuress while letting children play in rains.
