According to unofficial results‚ Abdul Qadir Gilani of Pakistan Peoples Party has won the NA-151 Multan by-election.
He received 64628 votes while his rival Shaukat Hayat Bosan got 60532 votes.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf have congratulated former Premier Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on his son's victory.
The polling which started at eight in the morning and ended at five p.m was largely peaceful barring few incidents of violence at some polling stations where casting of votes was halted for some time.
Election Commission made all necessary arrangements for fair‚ free and transparent election.
For the first time Commission provided free fetch and drop facility to the voters in the far-flung areas.
Radio Pakistan arranged marathon transmission and all its networks including NBS‚ medium wave station Multan and FM-93 and 101 channels to cover the by-election.
Polling‚ which began at eight in the morning continued till five in the evening without any break.
