Coming up to its traditions‚ Radio Pakistan is airing special programmes to mark the death anniversaries of renowned folk singers‚ Aalam Lohar‚ Allan Faqir‚ and Mai Bhagi this week.Half an hour duration programme was aired at 4:30pm hrs. on Tuesday July 3 to remember the great folk singer Aalam Lohar on his 43rd death anniversary. Aalam Lohar‚ who started singing at the age of 13 has five thousand albums to his credit.
Radio Pakistan aired a program at 4:05 pm hrs on Wednesday‚ July 4 on the occasion of the death anniversary of renowned folk singer‚ Allan Faqir. He is one of the foremost exponents of Sufi music in Pakistan. He is particularly known for his ecstatic style of performance marked with extreme devotional rhetoric and Sufi dance singing.
A Special programme was also aired at 4:30 pm hrs on Saturday‚ July 7 to remember the great folk singer‚ Mai Bhagi‚ who used to mesmerize the audience by singing the poetry of Shah Latif and other Sufi poets.
