Centenary birth celebrations of Manto being observed this year
The centenary birth celebrations of renowned novelist Saadat Hassan Manto are being observed this year
In this regard‚ a number of functions are being organized by the different literary‚ social and showbiz organizations across the country.
In connection with these celebrations‚ the Bazm-e-Ahang of the Radio Pakistan‚ Karachi is also organizing a function‚ titled "Hum‚ Sa'adat Hassan Manto aur Aaj" in Karachi on Friday.
Our Karachi representative Parveen Khurshid reports that Saadat Hassan Manto was extremely famous as a short-story writer of the Urdu language including "Bu"‚ "Khol Do" ‚ "Thanda Gosht"‚ and his magnum opus‚ "Toba Tek Singh". "Tamasha"‚ based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre‚ was his first short-story‚ which gathered a nation-wide popularity for him among the people of all the races of the sub-continent.
