Loading the player ...In Radio Pakistan complaint cell Mr. Ashfaq and Naeem registered their complaints about shortage of irrigation water in canals at Mandi Ahmedabad.
Due to this‚ they are facing huge losses as standing crops on hudred of Acres are drying up. They said the area farmers suffered huge losses‚ besides the crops were badly affected due to non-availability of water in the canal. The affected farmers have demanded the government to improve the water situation on emergency basis so that they could save their crops.After knowing their problems‚ the representative of Radio Pakistan Complaint Cell Lahore contacted the Officer In charge water supply irrigation department Mr. Habibullah Bodla‚ who told that the shortage of water is because climate change (long winter season) which tighten water supplies for agriculture sector.
He said that Irrigation Department took preventive action to improve water managemen through Warabandi.
He said Shortage of water was noted 40% to 50%. For the distribution of equal quantity of water between farmers‚ irrigation department has launched "Warabandi programme" all over province to overcome shortage of water.
He also stressed the farmers to register their complaints on a toll free number (080011333) regarding any irrigation problem. Irrigation Department will response immediately.Irrigation official also ensured to visit the area on urgent basis and will manage the Warabandi inorder to resolve the water shortage problem to save the crops.
