President Asif Ali Zardari says European Union and Pakistan are partners in war against terrorism and stresses the need for enhanced trade relations with European countries.

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that European Union and Pakistan are partners in war against terrorism and appreciated EU's economic assistance to Pakistan.

He was talking to Ambassador-designate to Belgium and the European Union, Jalil Abbas Jilani who called on him in Islamabad.

The President said the country needs an increased access of Pakistani products into the EU markets and also advised the Ambassador to take up Pakistan's case for market access.

He said that Chambers of Commerce and businessmen of both the countries must be encouraged to meet , exploring trade between the two countries.

The President also directed the ambassador-designate to encourage Belgian companies to benefit from the investment friendly policies of Pakistan.

He advised the envoy to pro-actively engage with the Belgian government to further Pakistan's interests in holding of second Pakistan-EU summit in early 2010 as well as institutionalization of the summit process.
