Earlier the Afghan government refused to release the Taliban prisoners and claimed that these prisoners were involved in massive crimes. Today, the Loya Jirga has decided to release 400 Taliban prisoners and now we may see the start of intra-Afghan negotiation process soon. As per Taliban-US peace deal, the number of foreign forces was supposed to be reduced in Afghanistan and 5 army centers to be closed. So far, the United States is complying with the terms and conditions of the peace deal. Now, it is up to Afghan government and Afghan Taliban to resolve their bilateral issues through negotiations. The delay in the start of intra-Afghan peace dialogue may affect the US-Taliban peace deal as well. Taliban are the main stakeholders and have the majority of Afghanistan's part in their control. Pakistan has always been of the view that Afghan refugees must also be a part of intra-Afghan peace process. The voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees will start from tomorrow which is a good news.
