UN Food and Agriculture Organization has urged the need for steps to ensure food security in Pakistan, particularly in the rural areas.
The call was given by Ms Mina Dowlatchahi, the Chief of UN Food and Agriculture Organization mission in Pakistan in an exclusive panel interview with Radio Pakistan's News and Current Affairs Channel today.
The interview was anchored by the Director News and Current Affairs of Radio Pakistan Abdul Hadi Mayar. Mina Dowlatchahi said that food security and scarcity of hygienic food is an international issue and FAO is taking measures to address it seriously.
Speaking on the occasion, Farrukh Toirov, the Deputy Chief of FAO in Pakistan, said his organization is making endeavors to ensure Zero Hunger all over the world. He said that private sector and non-governmental organizations can play a major role in redressing the issue of food shortage.
Amir Irshad, Assistant Chief of FAO Mission, emphasized the need for expanding the network of form-to-market roads to enable the farmers to reach food products to big markets.
