Pakistan strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Kabul on Wednesday morning. Foreign Office in a statement in Islamabad said that Pakistan being a victim of terrorism understands the pain and agony that such incidents inflict upon the people and society. Expressing sympathies with Afghan people, Pakistan said it firmly stands with Afghan brothers in this hour of grief and anguish. The statement said that blast has also caused damage to the residences of some Pakistani diplomats and staff, living in the close vicinity, and inflicted minor injuries to some.

NSC discusses internal security and situation on LOC

The Meeting of National Security Committee was held in Islamabad on Wednesday with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the chair. Matters pertaining to internal and external security of the country, situation on western border and along the Line of Control came under discussion. The meeting expressed serious concern over aggravating human rights situation in occupied Kashmir and continued brutalities of Indian forces against innocent Kashmiri people. It was reiterated that Pakistan will continue to extend its moral, political and diplomatic support to people of occupied Kashmir. The meeting also discussed security matters related to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects. The Committee expressed satisfaction on the progress of operation Radd-ul-Fasaad against terrorism in the country.

China says most of early harvest energy projects being executed in Pakistan under CPEC

China says most of the early harvest energy projects being built under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in Pakistan will be completed before 2019. A spokesperson of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs made these remarks while answering a question regarding inauguration of the first unit of Sahiwal Coal Power Plant during her press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday. She said it will ease electricity shortage for the benefit of the people in Pakistan. Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, comprising two coal-based power unit, has a total capacity of generating 1320 megawatt.   The spokesperson said at present seventeen energy projects are being completed under the CPEC framework.  Terming the China Pakistan Economic Corridor game changer for the people of Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said we have started witnessing the benefits brought by the CPEC projects and Belt and Road Initiative.

Govt reduces prices of petroleum products for next month- The new prices will take effect from midnight today

The government has reduced prices of the petroleum products for the next month. This was announced by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, while talking to media in Islamabad on Wednesday evening. According to new prices, Petrol prices will be 72.80 rupees with a reduction of 1.20 rupees, diesel 81.40 with a reduction of 1.60 rupees, while prices of the light diesel and kerosene oil will remain unchanged at 44 rupees per liter. The new prices will take effect from midnight today.

NAB attaches high value to partnership with NCA of UK: CHAIRMAN

Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has said that NAB attaches high value to partnership with National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom. He was talking to Country Manager NCA Osman Ahmed in Islamabad on Wednesday. The Chairman said that close cooperation between the two agencies will be of great help towards curbing corruption. He appreciated NCA arranging two study visits of NAB officers to UK for capacity building, which proved very productive in improving the investigation skills and techniques of NAB staff. He said NCA will soon finalize contents for various courses in six fields for NAB's investigation officers. Osman Ahmed said that all the courses offered will be fully funded by NCA-UK to further enhance abilities of NAB staff to inquire and investigate corruption cases including white collar crimes.
