COAS vows to take war against terrorism to its logical end
He was speaking to troops in North Waziristan in his first visit to field formations after taking over command of Pakistan Army. “The war against terrorism will continue with focused approach and it will be taken to its logical conclusion till total elimination of terrorism from our soil. Defence and security of Pakistan against external and internal threat will remain my ultimate objective as military Chief. The temporarily displaced persons' return should be completed within stipulated time, and they should be assisted in all ways to resettle respectfully."

Finance Minister directs the agencies concerned to take strict measures against criminal elements involved in the smuggling of gold and currency
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad, he said action will be taken against forex and bullion smuggling, which is detrimental to the interest of Pakistan. The Minister asked FIA, IB, Custom Intelligence and State Bank of Pakistan to keep strict vigilance in this regard. All airports and other entry points should be kept under strict surveillance to curb this menace of currency and bullion smuggling. Ishaq Dar again dispelled the rumors about the demonization of 5000 rupees currency notes and withdrawal of 40,000 rupees prize bonds, freezing of lockers, which are being spread by the vested interest to harm the economy of the country.
Govt. reduces electricity price by Rs. 2.60 per unit
The reduction has been done for the month of October 2016. This would not be applicable to consumers of below 300 units or consumers of K-Electric. Meanwhile, the government has revised the petroleum prices for the next month. Petrol prices have been increased by two rupees per liter against OGRA's proposal for 6.24 rupees per liter. Similarly, high speed diesel price has been increased by 70 paisas per liter against OGRA's proposal for 5.42 rupees per liter.
Supreme Court adjourns the case of Panama Papers hearing till Tuesday next
Counsel of the PTI, Naeem Bukhari, submitted his arguments before the bench and he is expected to conclude his arguments on next hearing. In his remarks, the chief justice said that the private media should conduct itself in a dignified manner and avoid making irresponsible statements. The bench also noted that the newspaper cuttings cannot be given much weightage in this case. The counsel of Jamaat-e-Islami prayed the court to constitute a commission for investigation into Panama Papers.

Rabi-ul-Awwal Moon has been sighted. This was announced by Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munibur Rehman after chairing a meeting of the committee in Islamabad. The 12th Rabiul Awwal will be on Monday, the 12th of the next month.
UN expresses serious concern over reports of HR violations in Myanmar
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein has said the Government needs to condemn such inflammatory and dangerous rhetorics. He said there is a real risk that it could exacerbate the current spiral of violence. Rohingya Muslims, a minority group, has been under attack from Buddhist extremists for years.
