Sunday, June 29, 2014 - Islamabad—Radio Pakistan will put on air special programmes during the holy month of Ramzan, including Qir’at and Na’at competitions.

A Radio Pakistan’s spokesman, in a statement here Sunday, said 25 stations of the state broadcaster would hold Qir’at and Na’at contests among boys and girls of 18 to 25 years of age on local level during the holy month and select top three from amongst them for national level contests.

Radio Pakistan has also invited prominent scholars, including Dr Muhammad Tufail of International Islamic University, to highlight religious teachings and principles in different programmes during Sehri and routine transmission throughout the month.

The special Ramzan transmission includes programmes such as Shifa Hai Ramazan, Sufiana Kalam, interviews of leading Na’at Khawans and selective poetry in praise of Holy Prophet Muhammad [Peace be upon him], Mahafil-e-Hamd-o-Na’at, Qaseeda-e-Burda, and Darood-o-Salam etc.

Besides, Azan will be broadcast to attract the faithful to five times prayers.

Radio Pakistan has also arranged live broadcast of Traveeh prayers in special hookups on provincial levels after its English news at 9 pm daily. Traveeh prayers to be originated from Faisal Mosque will be relayed by Radio Pakistan Skardu, Gilgit, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Trarkhal. Traveeh prayers to be originated live from Badshahi Masjid, Lahore will be relayed by all stations of Radio Pakistan in Punjab province.

Radio Pakistan Karachi will originate Traveeh prayers from New Memon Masjid, which will be relayed by all stations in Sindh province.

Traveeh prayers from Masjid Al-Mursaleen Quetta will be relayed by all stations of Radio Pakistan in Balochistan province, while Traveeh prayers from Madni Masjid Peshawar will be relayed by all stations of Radio Pakistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
