PRESIDENT-PM 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called on President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, they discussed important international and national issues.

Both the leaders agreed to continue operations against scourge of terrorism and extremism till its total elimination from the country.

They expressed satisfaction over betterment in all sectors including economy of the country. 

The President and Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction over the encouraging reports of international institutions over the reduction in corruption in Pakistan.

PM-NAVY

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says Pakistan Navy is playing a pivotal role in the defence of the motherland.

He expressed these views during his meeting with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, who called on him in Islamabad on Monday.

The Prime Minister assured that all possible steps will be taken to enhance the capacity building of Pakistan Navy.

On the occasion, the Chief of Naval Staff briefed the Prime Minister over professional affairs of Pakistan Navy and said that Navy is ready to thwart any aggression of enemy. 

 

PM-AIRPORT

Chairing a high-level meeting to review the progress of New Islamabad International Airport project and its allied infrastructure in Islamabad on Monday, the Prime Minister said infrastructure projects are the backbone of a growing economy and essential for facilitating masses.

Secretary Aviation Division informed that 95% work on the Airport terminal building has been completed and all civil works would be completed by March 2017.

Chairman NHA updated that the New Airport is being provided main road access from both Motorways M-1 & M-2 and also from main GT Road.

He said the airport will also have access from Islamabad Metro that Prime Minister will inaugurate on 14th August, 2017 along with New Islamabad International Airport.

 

NA-QUESTIONS

The National Assembly was informed on Monday that natural gas tariff for textile sector is uniform across the country.

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told the House during question hour that the situation of gas supply has improved in the country and it will further improve by next winter due to effective measures taken by the government.

To another question, Minister for Law Zahid Hamid informed the House that provision of speedy justice to general public is manifesto of the PML-N Government.

He said that a reforms committee is working on different proposals to improve the judicial system in the country and early disposal of the cases.

All the parliamentary leaders will be allowed to speak in the House on a point of order.

The Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq announced it has been decided at a meeting of the parliamentary leaders.

He said the incident that happened last week was against the parliamentary norms.   

Later, the parliamentary leaders of different political parties spoke on the point of order.They demanded that their privilege motion should be considered.

Later, the House was adjourned due to lack of quorum. The House will now meet tomorrow morning at 10:30.

Addressing a news conference along with PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz in Islamabad on Monday, he said we are fighting the case on solid grounds and the situation will become clear in the coming days.

Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi says Pakistan is pursuing foreign policy goals of achieving a peaceful neighbourhood.

He was talking to a four-member media delegation from Nigeria in Islamabad on Monday.

Syed Tariq Fatemi expressed Pakistan’s desire to enhance relations with African countries.

Chairman Privatization Commission Muhammad Zubair is to be appointed as Governor Sindh.

This was confirmed by Muhammad Zubair during an interview with a private TV channel.

  The post was left vacant by the demise of Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui earlier this month.

Pakistan is fully committed to promote regional cooperation.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said this while talking to a delegation of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Islamabad on Monday.

He urged the forum to play its collective role in the development and promotion of trade and commerce among member countries.

The Minister said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a vision and a roadmap of regional development.

President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Suraj Vaidya  regretted cancellation of SAARC summit which has affected trade and business development process.

Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to regional cooperation under the umbrella of SAARC for acceleration of economic and commercial growth.

He was talking to a delegation of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President Suraj Vaidya in Islamabad on Monday.

The Adviser recognized the efforts of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in promoting economic, trade and investment linkages across the region. 

 

CONSULTATIONS

3rd Round of Pakistan-New Zealand Bilateral Political Consultations was held in Islamabad on Monday.

Director General East Asia and Pacific Division in Ministry of Foreign Affairs Javed Jalil Khattak led the Pakistani delegation while the New Zealand side was headed by Stephen Harris, Divisional Manager (South Asia).

Entire spectrum of relations between the two countries, including high level exchanges, economic and commercial ties, defence cooperation, Parliamentary Friendship Groups and consular matters came under discussion.

 

VISIT

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is arriving in Islamabad on Monday night on three-day visit to hold talks with Pakistani leadership over diverse issues.

During the visit, the Palestinian President will have a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif followed by delegation-level talks.

The President of Palestine and the Prime Minister of Pakistan will jointly inaugurate the newly constructed Palestinian embassy complex in the diplomatic enclave, Islamabad.

AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan has urged the African countries to support Kashmiris in their internationally recognized right to self determination.

In an interview to Nigerian National Television in Islamabad on Monday, he said that Kashmiris are also struggling for their fundamental rights like people of many African countries.

AJK President said Indian troops are committing massive human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and the entire valley has been turned into a prison.

The Organization of Islamic Conference has expressed grave concern over President Donald Trump's order banning travelers from seven Muslim countries.

In a statement today, OIC warned that such selective and discriminatory acts will only serve the radical narratives of extremists and will provide further fuel to the advocates of violence and terrorism.

In the first round match of 2nd T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament for the Blind in New Delhi on Monday, Pakistan beat New Zealand by ten wickets.

In the second round on Tuesday, Pakistan will take on England.

                    

WEATHER

Rain-thunderstorm with light snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places in Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan divisions, Upper FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next twelve hours.

However, foggy conditions are likely to prevail in plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh during night and morning hours.
