Nawaz Sharif directs FBR to reform the taxation system
The Prime Minister has also directed to introduce comprehensive reform package in FBR.
Prime Minister has asked Federal Board of Revenue to reform the taxation system with a view to facilitating the tax-payers.
He was chairing a meeting on reforms in FBR and measures to provide relief to the taxpayer in Islamabad on Monday.
The Prime Minister also directed to decrease the rates of Income tax‚ Sales tax and other duties.
He directed that a comprehensive reform package should be introduced in FBR which should simplify the procedures and enhance the tax returns. He directed to bring in a tax regime which helps the businesses grow. FBR should come up with reform package in one month.
As part of the efforts to simplify the procedures and provide swift services to the taxpayer‚ the Prime Minister directed to introduce new technology and tracking system to minimize the discretion of the tax officer. He stressed that the tax officers should facilitate people so that they feel comfortable.
The Prime Minister directed that the Income Tax‚ GST and Customs slabs should be rationalized and simplified so that they lead to increase in income of the government.
Mian Nawaz Sharif observed that corruption is root cause of all our problems and directed that the management of FBR to show zero tolerance towards corruption.
