MQM leader Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari urged the Sindh government to timely hold the Local Bodies elections in the province.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement has welcomed the judgment of Sindh High Court regarding Sindh Local Government Act 2013.
Addressing a news conference in Karachi‚ MQM leader Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari urged the Sindh government to timely hold the Local Bodies elections in the province as per Sindh High Court judgment.
He said MQM is ready for elections and has already finalized its manifesto.
Earlier‚ a Division Bench of the Sindh High Court has declared Sindh Local Government Act-2013 as unconstitutional and illegal.
The two-member bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah issued a short order on Monday on ten identical petitions challenging the amendments in the local bodies act.
MQM‚ PML-N‚ PML-F and others had challenged the amendments in Sindh Local Government Act-2013 and the delimitation carried out in the province.
The division bench while declaring the delimitations notification issued in November this year as null and void‚ directed Sindh Government to hold local bodies’ elections in accordance with 2001 delimitation.
Advocate General Sindh Khalid Javed has said Sindh government will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the judgment.
He said it will be impossible to hold local bodies’ elections as per schedule on old delimitations.
