Radio Pakistan correspondent Zahid Hameed reports from Mina that Hujjaj are offering Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayers at Mina and will move to Arafat soon after Fajr prayers on 9th Zilhaj where they will listen to Hajj sermon to be delivered from Masjid-e-Nimra. They will stay at Arafat till the call for Maghrib prayer. After Azaan Maghrib, the Hujjaj will leave for Muzdalfa where they will offer Maghrib and Isha prayers and spend the night in the open sky.

Senate and NA strongly respond to the President Trump's statement

Senate unanimously passes a motion asking the government to launch a regional diplomatic initiative to coordinate responses to President Trump's new Afghan policy. The Senate has stressed the need for crafting a national policy paper putting forth Pakistan's narrative for US policy makers.

Meanwhile, National Assembly passes a unanimous resolution rejecting hostile and threatening statements against Pakistan made by US President and top US commander in Afghanistan. Members of the National Assembly strongly denounce the statement of US President Donald Trump, saying that the whole nation is on one page against the new US policy. Pakistan is not responsible for US failure in Afghanistan.

National Security Committee decides to keep a robust defence posture to ensure national security in a challenging environment

This decision is taken in its 13th meeting held in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the chair. The Committee reviews internal and external security situation and the threats and challenges to national security in the evolving regional and global context. US President Trump policy on Afghanistan and South Asia was also discussed in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Khurrum Dastgir Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Foreign Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, National Security Advisor, Director General ISI and senior civil and military officials.

Operation Radd-ul Fasaad continues with full swing against terrorists all over the country

According to ISPR, 12 Baloch Republican Army's terrorists including 2 mid-tier terrorists have surrendered to the security forces at Noshki, Sui, Kohlu and Karghani districts along with weapons and ammunition. Pakistan Rangers Punjab along with Punjab Police and Intelligence Agencies conducted intelligence based operations in Faisalabad, Lahore and Islamabad. During last 48 hours, 39 suspects including 8 illegal Afghans apprehended. 
Illegal weapons and ammunition of different calibers including AK 47 and automatic weapons recovered from suburbs of Faisalabad.

Pakistan tells Security Council that ground realities, not political expediency should guide the Council's decisions on peacekeeping

Pakistan's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi has called for ensuring effective deployment of UN peacekeeping missions and their operations relevant to the ground realities. Speaking at the UN Security Council, she says these deployments should be well-resourced in order to carry out tasks of maintaining peace and security in the world’s troubled regions. Meanwhile, Participating in the debate on the issue in New York, Pakistan's Ambassador to United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi says saving lives, restoring order and the maintenance of international peace and security should remain the overarching objective. 

Pakistan offers lucrative market for investment: Pervaiz

Talking to British High Commissioner Thomas Drew in Islamabad, Minister for Commerce Muhammad Pervaiz Malik says economic and social indicators are on the rise in Pakistan and the country offers a lucrative market for investment. United Kingdom is Pakistan's biggest trade partner in Europe. Pakistan's inclusion in European Union's "Special Incentive Arrangement for Good Governance and Sustainable Development" has been the major catalyst for promoting bilateral trade. The British High Commissioner says UK is always ready to work on ways to increase bilateral trade.

Minister of Statistics Kamran Michael says the process of Population and Housing Census has been carried out with full transparency

Talking to media in Islamabad, he sayst all the raised objections in this regard have been addressed. It is not good practice to criticize the state institutions and we should avoid from such type of behavior. Figures of the census have been collected by our civil and military personnel through their door-to-door campaign. Time is required to finalize figures of the census in order to remove every type of ambiguity.

Pakistan inks a Memorandum of Understanding with Japan International Cooperation Agency on Energy Conservation in Islamabad

Addressing the ceremony, Minister of State for Power Abid Sher Ali says the government has established National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority which has introduced energy labeling regime aiming at production of most efficient electrical home appliances. JICA would extend support to develop effective phasing out strategy of inefficient appliances ensuring mandatory Pakistan Energy Labeling Regime. Pakistan has already established an accredited fan testing laboratory for labeling of efficiency of fans.

PIA offers 25% discount on all domestic flights during Eid-ul-Azha

Pakistan International Airlines has announced twenty-five per cent flat discount on all domestic flights during Eid-ul-Azha days. Talking to Radio Pakistan Lahore correspondent, a spokesman for the national flag-carrier says passengers can enjoy this facility on the second and third day of Eid-ul-Azha. Special discount is an Eid gift for Pakistanis.
